Silver Week is a week in September which contains consecutive national holidays. These national holidays are “Respect for the Aged Day” and “Autumnal Equinox”. It is a shorter version of “Golden Week” in May and usually any weekday that falls between public holidays becomes a holiday.
Numerous events, festivals and fireworks used to be held all over Japan every year during Silver Week and it was very crowded. So many tourists also used to visit Japan during this period as the weather is so pleasant.
This year is very different from previous years as the events are all cancelled and there are still restrictions on foreign national entrance.
Hope next year we enjoy the events and festivals in Japan altogether!
