Fireflies season in Japan

Fireflies are to rainy season; what cherry blossoms are to spring.

It is said that they represent the souls of warriors who died in the war and they are the symbol of burning love.  They live only in clear rivers and paddy fields and are rarely visible in cities these days. During the summer, firefly festivals are held all around Japan, giving a chance to witness the beauty of this magical creature. Some festivals take place in the gardens of luxury hotels, if the conditions are good enough for fireflies to appear in big cities.

We hope you will be able to visit these amazing places as Japan reopens borders to overseas tourists from June 10th.
