One of the reasons that has slowed the pace of coronavirus spread in Japan comparing other countries of the world is the habit of wearing face masks.
Just till December 2019, it was not common to wear face masks in all over the world and surgical masks were usually used by surgeons or sick people to prevent the infection.
Japan is a country with a big population especially in metropolitan Tokyo with crowded trains in rush hours. Japanese usually wear masks to prevent the germs or sickness from spreading in public in flue season and also for not getting infected.
