Girls Day (Hina Matsuri)

March 3rd is “Girls’ Day” in Japan and “Hina Matsuri” is celebrated on this day.
It is not a national holiday but the houses with young girls display Hina dolls and serve special dishes on this day.

Parents pray for the growth, happiness, and prosperity of their daughters.

This day is also called “Momo no Sekku” which means peach blossom festival.
The reason is that it corresponds to the time when peach blossoms start to bloom.
