Prince Fumihito, was officially declared heir to the throne at a ceremony in Tokyo.
Emperor Naruhito became monarch last year after their father abdicated. He is 60 year old and has no sons.
His brother Fumihito, is 54 year old. Prince Fumihito vowed to fulfill his duties at “Rikkoshi no rei” ceremony
in Tokyo, Imperial Palace on Nov. 8, 2020.
It had been postponed for seven months because of the coronavirus pandemic.
